Poland 2007: Skoda Fabia & Octavia in command

Car sales are back up a healthy 23% in Poland this year to 316,217 registrations. Boosted by the new generation launched in March, the Skoda Fabia is a distant leader at 17.017 sales and 5.4% of the market, up 3% year-on-year. It is the third consecutive year and the fourth overall that the Fabia tops the models ranking in Poland.

For the very first time in the country, Skoda delivers a 1-2 ‘a la’ Czech Republic with the Octavia up 2 spots and 16% to #2 with 12,477 sales and 3.9%. It is followed by the Toyota Yaris up 28% to 11,754 units and 3.7%, the Fiat Panda down 11% and the Ford Focus up 22%. The Fiat Grande Punto is up a further 2 spots and 6% to #6 with 8,289 sales while the VW Passat improves further on a record 2006 figure, up 2 ranks and 13% to #7 and 7,505 units.

Sales of Opel Astra are now split between the current generation (#9) and the Astra Classic (#10). Together they add up to 13,723 sales which would earn the nameplate the 2nd place like in 2006. Two newcomers make themselves noticed in the Top 20: the Kia Cee’d lands directly at #14 with 5,741 sales and the Toyota Auris arrives in 15th place at 5,568 units, both grabbing 1.8% of the Polish market.
