In 2004 car registrations in the UK fall just 0.5% short of last year’s record at 2,567,269 units. The Ford Focus is Britain’s best seller for the 6th consecutive year, down 15% to 110,074 sales. It was leader 11 months out of 12 this year. The Vauxhall Corsa is again the culprit, being #1 in September like last year at 18,388 sales. It is only the 2nd time in the last 53 months that the Focus is not #1 in the UK.
The Ford Fiesta takes the third place in spite of a 7% drop. 6 year-old Peugeot 206 manages to gain one spot and is back to #4 with 86,605 sales. It was #3 in March. Very solid performance of the Renault Clio at #6 and 72,412 sales, of the Vauxhall Zafira up to a best-ever #11 and the Renault Megane new generation up to #14.
