Syria August 2017: Hyundai Tucson dominates market down 23%
The Hyundai Tucson is the most popular vehicle in Syria so far this year.

War-torn Syria sees its sales drop 23% year-on-year in August to 619 units, yet the year-to-date total remains in positive for now at +4% to 5.176. Only Hyundai (64.6% share) and Kia (34.7%) sell in significant numbers in Syria, with Nissan at a lonely 4 units this month and Subaru at 4 units year-to-date. If a year ago the Hyundai Santa Fe and Kia Frontier dominated the models ranking, this year it’s the Hyundai Tucson (+765%), Elantra (+168%) and H1/Starex (+65%), all posting spectacular gains. The Kia Sportage is the only other nameplate losing a three-digit sales figure and remains #2 year-to-date below the Tucson.
