New car sales in Indonesia are down 6% year-on-year in September to 87.645 units, yet the year-to-date total remains in positive at +2.5% to 803.140 sales. Whereas a year ago it was outsold by the then-new Toyota Calya, the Toyota Avanza has well and truly reclaimed its market domination in Indonesia even though it falls slightly faster than the market this month at -8% to 9.2% share. In contrast, the Toyota Calya freefalls down 42% year-on-year to 5.9% and its twin the Daihatsu Sihra is down 32% to 4.4%. The Toyota Kijang Innova manages to slip in between the two nameplates at #3 with sales edging up 1%. The Daihatsu Gran Max Pikap (+22%), Suzuki Carry Pikap (+39%), Suzuki Ertiga (+33%), Honda BR-V (+90%) and Mitsubishi Pajero Sport (+52%) manage the largest year-on-year gains in the Top 20.
