New Caledonia (France) August 2017: Subaru XV shoots up to #4

New car sales in New Caledonia, an overseas French territory located north east of Australia, are down 0.8% year-on-year in August to 776 units, bringing the year-to-date tally up 13.8% to 5.845. Toyota (-6%) remains the best-selling carmaker on the archipelago for the second month running, but only one unit above Ford (-10%) still leader year-to-date, and three above Dacia (-21%), still #2 year-to-date. Peugeot soars 31% to #4, Nissan is up 16% at #5, Subaru up 50% to #7, Mazda up 115% to #11, Volkswagen up 91% to #13 and Mitsubishi up 171% to #15. Model-wise, the Dacia Duster is back in the pole position it holds year-to-date despite deliveries down 20% year-on-year. It distances the Toyota Hilux (-24%) and Ford Ranger (-11%) while the Nissan Navara (+44%) at #5 and the Isuzu D-Max (-18%) at #6 make it four pickup trucks in the July Top 6. The hero of the month is the Subaru XV up 15 spots on July and 138% year-on-year to climb up to 4th place overall. Dacia also has the Sandero at #7 and the Logan at #9.
