New vehicle sales in Indonesia are stable in August, up 0.2% year-on-year to 96.461 wholesales, with the year-to-date tally now standing at +3.6% to 715.495. Whereas a year ago the Toyota Avanza historically lost its pole position to the all-new Calya, it has now well and truly reclaimed its throne, even gaining 12% year-on-year to 10.6% share vs. -35% and 6.2% for the Calya. The Toyota Kijang Innova, up 24% to #2 this month, is sandwiched between the two nameplates. The Daihatsu Sigra resists a lot better than its Toyota twin at just -5% in 4th position and also earning the 4th position year-to-date, passing the Honda HR-V and Mobilio. The Daihatsu Gran Max Pikap surges 49% to #6, the facelifted Honda CR-V brilliantly breaks into the Top 10 (it wasn’t in the July Top 20), the Suzuki Carry Pikap is up 93%, the Honda Jazz up 49% and the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport up 39%.
