New car sales in Argentina are up a flamboyant 47% year-on-year in June to 76.210 registrations, lifting the half-year total up 33% to 441.766 units, still on track to achieve the second best ever annual volume in Argentinean history below the all-time record of 955.023 hit back in 2013. The Top two manufacturers in the country frankly beat an already explosive market growth: Volkswagen is up 60% to 15.2% share while Chevrolet is up 80% to 14.2%. They are followed by Renault (+33%) and Ford (+25%) while Fiat (+49%), Honda (+167%), Nissan (+78%), Jeep (+198%), Chery (+74%) and Hyundai (+54%) among the most dynamic.
Model-wise, after ranking #2 in January, March and April the Renault Sandero celebrates its very first pole position in Argentina thanks to sales shooting up 159% year-on-yea to 3.930 and 5.2% share. It distances the VW Gol Trend (+165%) and Chevrolet Onix (+114%) all in exceptional shape. The Toyota Hilux on the other hand – the #1 vehicle in Argentina in 2016 – is down 4% to 4th place. Below, the Toyota Etios (+72%), Chevrolet Prisma (+186%) and Peugeot 208 (+59%) also beat the market. Further down, the Fiat Toro is stable at #17, the Fiat Mobi is down 6 spots on May to #20 and the Peugeot 301 breaks into the Top 50 for the first time at #48.
