Uruguay Full Year 2016: Fiat takes control in market down 8%
Fiat becomes the most popular brand in Uruguay in 2016.

It’s a third consecutive year of decline for the Uruguyan new car market at -8% to 45.636 registrations. The brands ranking is completely reshuffled, with Fiat surging 31% to 12.1% share and snapping a last-minute pole position off Volkswagen, down 4% to 11.9% share. Leader last year, Suzuki (-35%) drops to third place, ahead of Renault (+34%), Chevrolet (-32%) and Nissan (-15%). Ford soars 61% to #8 and Toyota is up 41% to #10. The 30 Chinese manufacturers present in Uruguay hold a total 12.8% market share, down from 16.6% in 2015, and are now led by Geely (+37%), distancing Lifan (-5%), BYD (-33%), FAW (-28%), Chery (-70%), Great Wall (-14%) and Dongfeng (-28%).
