New Zealand November 2016: Hyundai Tucson leaps up to #5

The New Zealand new car market continues on its record-breaking run this year, with November sales the highest ever for the month at +18% year-on-year to 13.740. This brings the year-to-date tally up 9.5% to a record 135.711 units, already beating the previous annual high mark set last year (134.234). The 140.000 annual sales milestone will be reached for the first time in history in 2016. Toyota surprisingly goes agains the trend with deliveries down 13% in November but the Japanese manufacturer remains in the lead at 16.6% share vs. 11.5% for Holden (+23%) and 10.8% for Ford (+18%). Mitsubishi (+56%), Hyundai (+25%), Kia (+54%), Suzuki (+40%), Isuzu (+81%), Ssangyong (+35%) and Jeep (+174%) all post stunning gains inside the Top 15. Model-wise, the Ford Ranger cements its pole position thanks to sales up 13% to 777 ahead of the Toyota Corolla (-11%) and Toyota Hilux (-29%). The Holden Colorado surges 44% to 4th place overall, the Hyundai Tucson leaps 19 spots on October to #5 and the Kia Sportage is up 214% on November 2015 to 6th.
