Taiwan August 2016: Corolla leads, CMC Veryca back up to #2

The Taiwanese new car market slips down slightly in August at -0.2% year-on-year to 22.874 units, yet the year-to-date total remains in positive at +1% to 290.189 sales. Toyota shoots up 24% to 5.867 sales and 25.6% share. followed by Nissan/Infiniti (-2%) and Mitsubishi/CMC (-9%) while Mercedes surges 4 spots on July and 24% year-on-year to #4. Luxgen (+6%) and Lexus (+22%) also post solid results. The Toyota Corolla remains by far the best-selling nameplate in the country, selling almost three times the amount of the next best at 2.175 sales and 9.5% share. The CMC Veryca is back up 3 spots on July to a brilliant 2nd place with 3.2% share, ahead of the Toyota Wish, Nissan Tiida and Toyota Yaris. The Mitsubishi Delica is back up 9 ranks to #6, the Nissan Livina is up 3 to #8 and the Luxgen U6 Turbo stays robust at #11 with 2% share. Further down, the Luxgen S3 remains stuck at #21, the Hyundai Tucson is up to #26, the Mercedes GLE is up 18 spots on last month to #30, the Mazda CX-3 up 12 to #33 and the BMW X1 up to #40.
