Romania July 2016: Dacia recovers to 35.8% share, Logan to 24.5%

After an uncharacteristic 37% drop in June, the Romanian new car market is back to solid growth at +17% in July to 10.768 registrations, lifting the year-to-date total up 6% to 46.220. Dacia returns to more familiar market shares at 35.8% thanks to sales up 12% to 3.850 with Renault surging 73% to 2nd place overall at 993 units. Skoda (797), Volkswagen (696) and Ford (577) follow but all lose market share. Toyota (+61%), Opel (+69%), Honda (+93%), Suzuki (+102%) and Peugeot (+146%) post the most spectacular gains inside the Top 20.

After plunging to a lowest ever 9.1% share last month, the Dacia Logan catches up on lost time at 24.5% in July vs. 17.1% year-to-date. The Dacia Sandero is back up 12 spots on June to #2 overall with 5.1% ahead of the Dacia Duster up 2 to #3 despite sales down 23% to 478. The Renault Clio is up 64% to #4, the Opel Astra up 184% to #6, the Suzuki Vitara up 255% to #8, Toyota Corolla up 118% to #9 and Peugeot 208 up… 7-fold to #10. Notice also the Renault Kadjar up 6 spots on June to #14, the Honda Civic up 30 to #26 and the Citroen C-Elysée up 107% on July 2015 to #40.
