Pakistan July 2016: Suzuki WagonR doubles sales in market down 12%

Sales of Suzuki WagonR in Pakistan are up 107% year-on-year in July.

Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association data enables us to follow the Pakistani market through sales of locally produced models, a pretty accurate representation of the most popular new cars in the country as imports are still relatively limited. In July, sales of these models are down 12% to 13.932 units, leading to a year-to-date tally down 8% to 118.780. Suzuki slightly loosens its stranglehold on the market with deliveries down 19% to 54.8% share while Toyota is up to 30% thanks to sales down just 2% and Honda is up to 15.2% with deliveries down 3%. The Toyota Corolla remains the best-selling vehicle in the country, improving to 26.4% share ahead of the Suzuki Mehran (-1%) and Honda City (-7%). The Suzuki Ravi (-49%) and Bolan (-54%) continue their freefall whereas the Suzuki Cultus is up 17% to #6 and the Suzuki WagonR up 107% to #7. The Toyota Hilux (+37%) and Suzuki Swift (+12%) also impress.
