Finland June 2016: Opel Astra, Skoda Superb impress in market up 20%

Finnish new car sales take off in June: up a very satisfying 20% year-on-year to 10.581 registrations, leading to an H1 tally up 15% to 64.695 units. Despite sales down 7%, Volkswagen remains the most popular carmaker at 1.313 sales and 12.4% share, distancing Toyota up a flamboyant 54% to 1.253 units and 11.8%. Below, Skoda (+21%), Ford (+31%), Opel (+49%), Kia (+32%) and Mercedes (+28%) all beat the market whereas Nissan (-16%) and Volvo (-14%) skid down. Honda (+209%), Seat (+88%), Fiat (+900%) and Jaguar (+550%) all post spectacular gains. The Skoda Octavia is the best-selling vehicle in Finland for the second straight month, cementing its year-to-date lead at 3.050 sales vs. 2.409 for the Nissan Qashqai, down to #5 this month. The VW Golf ranks 2nd despite declining sales (-14%), the Opel Astra is up 3-fold on June 2015 to #3 overall thanks to the new model and the Toyota Auris up 4-fold to #4. Other impressive progressions include the Audi A4 up 97%  to #11, the Honda Civic up 260% to #13, the Seat Leon up to #14, the Skoda Superb up 789% to #17 and the Hyundai i20 up 133% to #29.
