It’s a difficult year for the Ecuadorian new vehicle market with sales down a harsh 32% year-on-year in 2015 to just 81.309 units, its lowest level since 2005 (80.410). Market monster Chevrolet manages to drop slower than the market (-25%) to lift its already gargantuan market share to 49.5% at 40.265 deliveries. The American carmaker is followed like in 2014 by Kia at 9.4% (-36%) and Hyundai at 7% (-47%). Nissan (-37%) overtakes Mazda (-47%0 and Toyota (-44%) to rank 4th while Chinese carmakers Great Wall (#8) and FAW (#19) are the only two manufacturers in positive in the Top 20, with the former hitting a record 3% market share this year. Lifan (+480%) and Golden Dragon (+5750%) also shine. Model-wise, Chevrolet monopolises the Top 5 with the D-Max taking the lead, followed by the Aveo Family, Grand Vitara, Aveo Emotion and Sail.
