UK August 2015: Vauxhall Mokka up, Ford Kuga breaks into Top 10

42nd consecutive month of year-on-year gains for the UK new market at +10% in August to 79.060 registrations, lifting the year-to-date total to 1.634.369 units, up 7% on 2014. There are two main events in the Top 10 models this month: firstly the Vauxhall Mokka surges to #7, its fourth incursion inside its domestic Top 10 after May 2014 (#10), December 2014 (#6) and June 2015 (#9). Secondly the Ford Kuga, after regularly ranking inside the Welsh and Northern Irish Top 10, makes its big entrance inside the national Top 10 this month with 1.325 sales and 1.7%. In other Top 10 news, below the Ford Fiesta (+2%) and Focus (-2%), the VW Golf (+3%) overtakes the Vauxhall Corsa (-12%) to round up the podium, the VW Polo is up 47% to #5, the Audi A3 up 12% to remain at an impressive 6th spot and the BMW 3 Series is up a fantastic 48% to get back among the country’s 10 most popular nameplates at #9.

BMW UK sales are up 36% year-on-year in August.

In the brands charts, Ford (15%) and Vauxhall (11.3%) both lodge higher shares than year-to-date (13% and 10.3% respectively), Volkswagen surges 24% to 9.6% share, Audi is up 13% to #4, BMW up a whopping 36% to #5, Mercedes up 15% to #6 and Toyota up 18% to #11. Further down, notice Mazda (+46%), Land Rover (+31%), Jaguar (+203%), Mitsubishi (+33%), Smart (+26%), Lexus (+108%), Porsche (+75%), Jeep (+58%) and Ssangyong (+262%) all lodging impressive year-on-year improvements.
