Malawi 1st Half 2015: Toyota Hilux fights off Ford Ranger

698 new vehicles were registered in Malawi over the First Half of 2015, and three brands hold a combined 78% market share: Toyota leads with 44.7% of the Malawian market above Ford at 18.1% and Nissan at 14.9%. Indian manufacturer Tata posts an excellent 4th place ahead of Kia, Hyundai, Chevrolet and Volkswagen. The Toyota Hilux remains the best-selling vehicle in Malawi but with 18.2% share it is now under threat from the Ford Ranger at 16.9%. Both models being about to transition to a new generation in the coming year, this battle will surely intensify. The Nissan Hardbody makes the podium 100% pickup with the Toyota Land Cruiser and Corolla rounding up the Top 5.
