New Zealand April 2015: Ford Ranger takes control

New Zealand vehicle sales are not slowing down, continuing at their record pace. 6.373 passenger car were registered in April, up 4% year-on-year and the best April figure since 1989, while for commercial vehicles, 2.916 units are up 13% on April 2014 and the best-ever April result. The overall market is up 6% to 9.289 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 42.588 units, up 8% on 2014. Toyota remains sovereign in the bands ranking albeit at a slightly lower level this month (15.2%) than year-to-date (16.8%), while Ford (11.6%) overtakes Holden (9%) for 2nd place but stays 3rd year-to-date. Nissan shoots up 3 spots on March to #4 overall, above Mazda, Hyundai and Mitsubishi.

It’s a big win in the models ranking for the Ford Ranger, simultaneously taking the lead in April (487 deliveries) and year-to-date (1.797), passing both the Toyota Hilux (1.699) and Corolla (1.653) at once. The Hyundai ix35 jumps 13 ranks on last month to an excellent 7th place, the Holden Captiva is up 6 to #11 and the Mazda CX-3 makes its very first appearance in the Kiwi Top 25 at #24 with 1.1% share for its first full month of sale in the country.
