Like in February, new vehicle sales in South Africa display remarkable year-on-year stability masking economic troubles and rising inflation: up 9 units (!) on March 2014 to 55,449 registrations and down 0.07% over the first quarter of 2015 to 160,059 deliveries. Toyota tops the manufacturer ranking with just under 20% market share ahead of Volkswagen Group (15.1%) and Ford (12.4%) while Hyundai-Kia (9.8%) and General Motors/Isuzu (9.2%) round up the Top 5. Model-wise, the Toyota Hilux cements its domination this year with 3,625 sales and 6.5% above the Ford Ranger (5.6%) and VW Polo Vivo (5.1%) but the performer of the month is the Nissan NP200 (aka previous gen Dacia Logan pick-up) lifted by a Stealth Special Edition up to #4 with 1,956 sales and 3.5%. The Ford Ecosport for its part lodges a third consecutive month inside the Top 10, the Datsun GO is down 10 spots on February to #26 and the Opel Mokka makes its first appearance in the SA Top 100 at #54.
