The Malaysian new car market is down a minuscule 0.7% year-on-year in February to a still very solid 50,390 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 100,992 units, one (!) sale above the same time last year. Local manufacturer Perodua (36.9%) manages to sell more than double any other carmaker in the market, with the 2nd local brand Proton at just 16.4% share this month. For the 2nd time in a row, Honda shines and tops all foreign carmakers thanks to 6,041 sales and 12%, while Toyota is back up one spot to #4 overall at 4,990 units and 9.9%, overtaking Nissan at #5 and 7%.
