Chile February 2015: Chevrolet reclaims top spot in market down 29%

Depressing times for new light vehicle sales in Chile: down another 29% year-on-year in February to 18,223 registrations after plunging by 30% in January. The year-to-date total stands at 42,124 units, down 30% on 2014. After lodging a surprise pole position last month, Hyundai falls down to #4 in February at 7.6%, enabling traditional leader Chevrolet to reclaim the brands throne both this month (18.6% share) and year-to-date (15.2%). Kia (11%) and Suzuki (8.9%) mechanically both go up one spot to #2 and #3 respectively but remain #3 and #4 year-to-date. Nissan (7%) stays above Toyota (6%), while Mazda (#7) and Mitsubishi (#9) exchange ranks vs. January. Chinese manufacturers struggle again at 8.8% vs. 11.4% over the FY2014, placing Great Wall (#17), JAC (#19) and Chery (#20) in the Top 20. GAC Gonow progresses at #28.
