The Israeli new car market starts 2015 nicely: up 24% year-on-year in January to 33,630 registrations. The brands ranking, usually relatively stable in Israel, is completely reshuffled: Hyundai leads with 13.1% share thanks to sales up 46%, ahead of Mazda (+40%), Kia (+22%), Toyota (+10%) and Mitsubishi (+34%). Skoda is up an explosive 73% to 6th place, Seat up 86% to #9 and Fiat up 98% to #17. For its first full month of sales in Israel, Dacia lands in 23rd place with 208 deliveries and 0.6% share, an honest debut placing the low-cost brand in-between BMW (408) and Lexus (175) and not too far from Peugeot (543) or Citroen (672). Dacia places the Duster at #80, the Sandero at #96, Lodgy at #132 and Dokker at #152.
The Kia Picanto manages to take the lead of the models ranking thanks to 1,561 sales and 4.6%. After topping the Israeli sales charts in July 2013 and June 2014, the Picanto is the only nameplate aside from the Toyota Corolla to have ranked #1 in the past 20 months. The Corolla is down to a paltry 4th spot this month at 1,248 units and 3.7% below the Mazda3 at 1,361 deliveries and the Hyundai i10 at 1,299. Other great performers in Israel this month include the Seat Ibiza up to #6, the Mazda2 up to #9 and the Audi A1 up to #48. Finally, notice the Nissan Almera landing directly at #28 with 1% share for its first appearance in the Israeli ranking.
