Finland October 2014: Mercedes A Class shoots up to #8

The Finnish new car market disappoints in October: down 3% year-on-year to 8,701 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 91,037 units, up 2% on 2013. Brand-wise, Toyota is trying to catch up its late on Volkswagen with 1,114 sales and 12.8% vs 924 and 10.6 but the German carmaker is still ahead YTD at 12.2% vs. 11.7%, Kia is up to #6, BMW up to #9 and Renault up to #14. In the models ranking, the Skoda Octavia keeps the lead in spite of sales down 26% on October 2013 to 454 units and 5.2% share, only 6 sales above the Toyota Auris down 7% to #2 and 5.1% but well above its YTD level of 3.5% share. The Nissan Qashqai is down 31% but remains third while the VW Golf is down a harsh 46% at #4 and 3.4% vs. #2 and 5.1% YTD. Another outstanding month for the Kia Rio up 224% to break into the Top 5 at #5 and the Mercedes A-Class up 5-fold on the same time last year to break into the Top 10 at #8. It ranks #30 year-to-date.
