Taiwan September 2014: Lexus NX up to world-best #22

The Taiwanese new car market is up a round and very healthy 20% year-on-year in September to 34,746 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 313,756 units, up 15% on 2013. Toyota is king of the roads once again and by far just under 30% share at 10,280 sales, followed by Nissan/Infiniti (10.6%), Mitsubishi/CMC (10.3%), Ford (5.1%) and Mercedes (5%). In the models ranking, below the Toyota Corolla sovereign as usual at 9.9% of the market, the Toyota Yaris shoots up from outside the Top 50 in August directly into 2nd place this month thanks to the new model now available in dealerships across the country. But the big event is below, with the all-new Lexus NX making a spectacular arrival in the Taiwan Top 50 for its first full month of sales: directly at a splendid 22nd position with 432 sales and 1.2% share! So far the new nameplate’s best ranking anywhere in the world. Notice also the Porsche Macan down 19 spots to a still impressive #38, making it once again the brand’s best-seller in Taiwan.
