New car sales in Taiwan are up a solid 9% year-on-year in August to 23,183 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 279,010 units, up 15% on 2013. Toyota leads the brands ranking as usual, however with just 23.1% share vs. 29.3% year-to-date, followed by Mitsubishi (10%), Nissan (9%) and Ford (6.8%) while Mercedes and BMW both shine in 5th and 6th places respectively vs. #7 and #9 year-to-date. In the models ranking, below the Toyota Corolla weaker at 7.7% and the Toyota Vios strong at 4.5%, the CMC Veryca is up 6 spots on July to #6, the Mercedes C-Class is up a spectacular 32 ranks to #10, the Mercedes E-Class up 8 to #15, Hyundai Santa Fe up 10 to #16 and Ford Fiesta up 12 to #17. But the most impressive performance of the month is without a doubt the Porsche Macan landing directly at #19 with 300 sales for its very first appearance in the Taiwanese ranking!
