The Canadian new light vehicle market is up 4% year-on-year in April to 179,044 registrations, adding up to 538,263 units after 4 months in 2014, up 2% on 2013. Below the unassailable Ford F-Series (11,085 sales) and RAM pick-up (8,339), the Toyota Corolla brilliantly takes the lead of the Passenger Cars ranking this month in Canada thanks to sales up 21% year-on-year to 5,620 units. It however remains #3 year-to-date below the Honda Civic (+2%) and Hyundai Elantra (-11%). The Ford Escape also sparks: up 6 spots on March to #4 and 18% year-on-year to 4,821 sales.
The Nissan Micra is now on sale in Canada, but not in the US.
Notice also the Kia Rio up 12 ranks to #25 and the Honda Fit up 19 to #29. Further down, let’s salute the Mitsubishi Mirage up 52 spots to #77, the Chevrolet Camaro up 37 to #85, Mercedes CLA up 14 to #103 and BMW 4 Series up 24 to #123. Two ‘new’ entrants get noticed this month in Canada: the Nissan Micra, not sold in the US, lands at #140 with 201 sales and the Audi A3, now that the sedan variant is available, re-enters at #147 with 173 units sold.
