The Dutch new car market is up 5% year-on-year in February to 33,625 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 78,002 units, down 2% on 2013. And it’s another wild models ranking for the Netherlands this month, keeping in mind sales of vehicles in the country are less dictated by consumer tastes than government-ruled preferential pricing for eco-friendly variants. In this context, the Suzuki Alto takes off this month: up from #32 over the Full Year 2013 and #18 in January directly into pole position with 2,279 sales and 6.8%! The Kia Picanto is up 5 spots on last month to rank #2 at 1,866 units and 5.5%.
Another model to shoot up this month is the Hyundai i10, potentially helped by its new generation, up 11 ranks to #3 with 1,434 sales and 4.3% share whereas it only ranked #30 in 2013… Leader last month, the VW Golf is down to #4 with 1,288 units and 3.8% but remains on top year-to-date at 5% share. Leader in 2013, the VW Up is down 2 spots on January to #5. Notice also the Volvo V60 up 17 ranks to #8, the Renault Captur up one to a best-ever #8, the Hyundai i20 up 39 to #12, Mitsubishi Outlander back up 91 to #17, Nissan Note up 29 to #34, Citroen DS3 up 25 to #35 and the Dacia Logan up 31 to #41.
