Vietnam January 2014: Honda City and Kia K3 shoot up

The Vietnamese new car market starts 2014 with a bang: up 21% year-on-year in January to 8,900 registrations, and there are a few very noticeable movements in a models ranking traditionally relatively stable. The Top 4 is unchanged vs. FY2013, with the Toyota Fortuner leading the way as usual with 769 sales and 8.6%, followed by the Toyota Innova at 746 units and 8.4%, the Toyota Camry at 5.8% and Corolla Altis at 5.1%. The Honda City brilliantly shoots up from #12 in 2013 to #5 this month thanks to 415 units and 4.7% share, while the Honda CR-V doubles its market share vs. FY2013 to 4% at #7, the Ford Ranger is at 3.1% vs. 1.7% and the Kia K3 breaks into the Vietnamese Top 10 for the first time at #10 with 268 sales and 3%. Finally, notice the Nissan Sunny making its very first appearance at #18 with 144 units and 1.6%.
