New car sales in Mexico continue on their good trajectory in January, up 1.5% year-on-year to 85,504 registrations. The Chevrolet Aveo stays on top by far thanks to 5,582 sales and 6.5% while unbelievably the antediluvian Nissan Tsuru is back up two spots on December to #2 with sales up 27% year-on-year to 3,995 units and 4.7%, passing the Nissan Versa (-19%) and VW Clasico (-10%). But the big event this month is the thunderous arrival of the all-new VW Vento (aka Polo sedan) inside the the Mexican Top 10 at #7 with 2,244 sales and 2.6%. Cheap(ish), small sedan in a country that virtually only buys affordable sedans, that’s a good choice for Volkswagen. The Nissan March also shines, up 23% to #8.
