January 2014 roughly corresponds roughly to Dey, the 10th month in the year 1392 of the Persian calendar. As usual for Iran we only have access to production figures, however given imports are very limited this gives a pretty accurate picture of the state of the Iranian new car market. After being back into positive last month, car production in Iran over the period is down year-on-year anew in Dey, albeit by just 4% to 62,508 units. No surprises on top: the Saipa Pride still reigns supreme with 19,202 units, down 17% year-on-year, followed by the Peugeot Pars (+48%), Iran Khodro Samand (-30%), Peugeot 405 (-2%) and the Peugeot 206 resurrected at +343% year-on-year. The hero of the month is the Saipa Tiba breaking its monthly volume record at 4,821 units in 6th position, up 52% year-on-year. Finally, notice the Lifan X60 (#9) and 620 (#12) holding well while the Iran Khodro Dena is up to 9 units produced vs. 6 last month…
