Colombia Full Year 2013: Chevrolet Sail takes the lead

The Colombian new car market is down 7% year-on-year in 2013 to 293,846 registrations. For the 28th consecutive year (!), Chevrolet is the most popular carmaker in the country thanks to 75,689 sales and 25.8% share, followed by Renault at 44,358 units and 15.1%, up 2% on 2012, and Kia at 28,422 sales and 9.8%. There is one Chinese carmaker in the Top 10 brands this year: Chery at #10 with 4,421 units and 1.5%, and 18 Chinese in the overall ranking, led by JAC at #13, Dongfeng at #17, Hafei at #21 and Great Wall at #23.
The Chevrolet Tracker lands directly at #6
For its first full year in market, the Chevrolet Sail becomes the best-seller in Colombia with 16,894 sales and 5.7%, up a gigantic 135% on 2012. The Chevrolet Spark remains #2 at 15,158 units and 5.2% while the Renault Sandero, leader in 2012, is down to #3 this year with 14,270 sales and 4.9%, the Renault Logan stays #4 at 3.6% and the Renault Duster is up one spot and 18% year-on-year to #5 with 10,344 units. Astounding landing for the Chevrolet Tracker, launched early in 2013 and already #6 with 9,076 sales and 3.1%.
Other great performers this year in Colombia include the new Kia Sportage up 179% to #8, the Chevrolet Sonic up 155% to #11, Nissan March up 24% to #13, Renault Clio Campus up 353% to #18, Ford Escape up 93% to #22, Ford Ecosport up 168% to #26 and the Chevrolet Cobalt directly at #35 for its first year in market. Finally, there are 3 Chinese models inside the Colombian Top 75: the Chery Tiggo at #56, Chery X-Cross at #64 and Zotye Duna at #73.
