New car sales in Taiwan are up 3% year-on-year in 2013 to 378,291 registrations. No surprise in pole position: the Toyota Corolla continues to reign supreme, even up 2% on 2012 thanks to the arrival of the new generation later in the year to 37,038 sales and just under 10% market share. Boosted by the 2013 model, the Toyota Wish is up 2 spots and 22% on last year to #2 at 17,477 units and 4.6% while the Nissan Tiida rounds up the podium like in 2012 with 17,191 sales and 4.5%, up 11%.
The Toyota Wish is up to #2 in 2013.
But the best performers this year in Taiwan are without contest the Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V, both thanks to new models coming through and up 88% and 71% respectively to rank #4 and #5 at year-end. Other gainers in 2013 include the Ford Focus almost doubling its sales year-on-year to #9, the Hyundai ix35 and Honda Civic both up 22% to #17 and #18 respectively, the Mercedes E Class up to #23, Nissan Sentra landing at #31 and peaking at #2 in November and the Ford Kuga making its entrance at #39.
