New car sales in Indonesia continue on their incredible run, up a further 8% year-on-year in November to 111,741 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 1,132,130 units, up 10% on 2012. The Toyota Avanza still reigns supreme, back up to 17% market share thanks to 19,013 sales, but the big news this month is the 2nd place of the Toyota Agya at 6,591 units and 5.9% share, up 2 ranks and over one percentage point on its October score. Its twin the Daihatsu Ayla is up one spot to #4 with 5,095 sales and 4.6%, its best so far as well. This means the two locally produced models already account for over 10% of the Indonesian new car market!
The Agya and Ayla are Toyota’s answer to the new Indonesian Government Low Cost Green Car (LCGC) regulation which exempts from the luxury tax models made up from at least 60% domestic components, priced between Rp 50 million and 85 million with a maximum displacement of 1,200cc and fuel efficiency of at least 20 km/l. The Honda Brio Satya is the next candidate and it is up a fantastic 8 spots to #12 at 2,110 units and 1.9%. The Toyota Innova is down one rank to #3 and is now threatening the Daihatsu Xenia for 2nd place year-to-date at 62,398 vs. 62,727.
