South Africa November 2013: Toyota Etios up to best-ever #2

The South African drops by 5% year-on-year to 50,806 registrations, which brings the year-to-date total to 603,968 units, up 3% on 2012. The Toyota Hilux dominates the models sales charts with 3,561 sales and 7% share, reinforcing its year-to-date lead at 34,836 units and 5.8% vs. 32,143 and 5.3% for the VW Polo Vivo at #2. The big event this month in South Africa is the best-ever 2nd place of the Toyota Etios, otherwise disappointing in all other markets it launched in, breaking its ranking and share records at 5.1% and hitting its 2nd best volume ever at 2,591 units, below only the 2,625 sales it reached in October 2012.
Other great performers this month include the Ford Ranger up 2 spots to #4 with 1,937 sales and 3.8%, the Toyota Quantum at #6 vs. #11 year-to-date, the Toyota Fortuner up 8 ranks to #8, VW Golf 7 up 6 to #14, Renault Clio IV up 9 to #24 and the Renault Duster up a further 2 ranks to break into the South Africa Top 25 for the first time at its third month in market at #25. Further down, the Toyota RAV4 is up 4 spots to #27, Mercedes A-Class up 23 to #32 and Range Rover Sport up to #38.
