New car sales in the Netherlands reduce their fall to just 1.4% year-on-year in September at 31,504 registrations, however the year-to-date total is still down a woeful 29% to 301,331 units. With the 7th generation of the model now in full gear, the VW Golf takes the lead of the Dutch sales charts for the first time since last March thanks to 1,265 sales and 4%. It is still #2 year-to-date (vs. #11 in 2012!) at 10,946 units and 3.6% vs. 12,094 and 4% for the VW Up back up to #2 this month. The Renault Clio, leader in August, is down to a still excellent third place with 1,117 sales and 3.5%.
We now got used to the on-off performances in the Netherlands of some models in line with the changing price incentives offered to eco-friendly cars, and the winner this month is the Volvo V60 up 16 spots on August to #4 at 967 units and 3.1% vs. #27 year-to-date and #69 in 2012… Last month’s winner, the Chevrolet Volt, is back down outside the Top 150 (at #159 with 14 sales precisely)! The Volvo V40 for its part is down two ranks to #7 while the Renault Captur is up a further 6 spots to #13, the Peugeot 2008 is up one to #31 and the Tesla Model S shoots up to #53 with 170 sales, not as impressive as in Norway but still great for an expensive all-electric car and sending Tesla up to #22 brand in-between Mini and Dacia and ahead of Honda, Lexus and Land Rover…
