The Emirati new car market is up a fantastic 22% year-on-year in July to 29,265 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 201,122 units, up an equally impressive 16% on 2012. Toyota monopolises the podium once again this month, but illustrating how tight the race to #1 is so far this year, the models order has completely changed compared to June: in run-out mode here too, the Corolla takes the lead like in Saudi Arabia thanks to 1,736 sales and 5.9%, gaining one spot in the year-to-date ranking in the process to #2. The Land Cruiser is up one rank on June to #2 at 1,609 units and 5.5% and also up one year-to-date to #3, while the Camry rounds up the podium in July but remains #5 year-to-date.
The Toyota Prado is the best-selling model so far in 2013 in the UAE. Not for long?
The Toyota Prado is still for now the most popular model in the country so far in 2013 thanks to 10,673 sales and 5.3%, but it only ranks 4th in July and is now only 156 units above the Corolla… Leader in June, the Hilux is down to #5 this month and loses 2 ranks year-to-date to #4. As a reminder let’s note the Corolla was #1 in 2011 and the Hilux dominated in 2012, and it would be a first if the Prado leads the way in the Full Year. Let’s also salute the performances of the Mitsubishi Lancer EX up to #9 vs. #34 year-to-date, the Lexus LX up to #14 vs. #20 and Toyota RAV4 up to #30 vs. #44.
