New car sales in Qatar are up 4% year-on-year in June to 6,577 registrations and 2% year-to-date to 42,400 units. If the Toyota Hilux takes the lead this month thanks to 591 sales and 9% share, the Toyota Land Cruiser holds onto its year-to-date pole position for dear life at 4,136 units and 9.8% vs. a less convenient 3,379 and 8% for the Hilux. The Toyota Prado is third in both rankings but far below at 5.7% this month and 4.6% in 2013. Nissan has an excellent showing: 3 models in the Qatari Top 6 this month (like Toyota), okay it’s the bottom 3 but still: the Sunny is up to #4 vs. #8 year-to-date, the Patrol up to #5 vs. #9 and the D22 pick-up down to #6 vs. #5.
The Lexus LX is #7 year-to-date in Qatar.
Before we leave the Top 10, let’s salute the great performance of the super luxurious Lexus LX, ranking 7th year-to-date with 1,213 sales and 2.9% share. Further down, great gainers in June include the Hyundai Tucson up to #10 vs. #18 year-to-date, the Toyota Fortuner up to #15 vs. #28, Mitsubishi Lancer EX up to #16 vs. #31, Ford Ranger up to #22 vs. #65 and the Hyundai Sonata up to #23 vs. #48.
