For the first time on BSCB and thanks to Antonio from ANCAP I can share with you an all-models ranking for Portugal. Exciting times indeed! As we have seen in the brands article, new car sales in Portugal are up a fantastic 17% year-on-year in July to 10,832 registrations, which brings the year-to-date total to 65,783 units, up 5% on 2012. We continue to witness an extremely volatile models ranking in the country: the Fiat Punto is up a very surprising 93% year-on-year to gain 5 spots on June and land in pole position, no less, with 513 sales and 4.7%, just above the VW Polo at 508 units while the Peugeot 208 rounds up the podium with 449 sales and 4.1%. Year-to-date however, the Renault Clio is still sovereign at 3,516 sales and 5.3% even tough it dropped to #6 this month, with a comfortable advantage over the VW Polo (4.8%) and Peugeot 208 (4.5%).

Seat Ibiza Portugal July 2013The Seat Ibiza is up 149% year-on-year in July in Portugal…

#2 in 2011 but down to a horrible 19th place in 2012, the Seat Ibiza continues to climb back the Portuguese sales charts, up a further 4 spots on last month to #4 with 425 sales and 3.9%, that a whopping 149% increase on July 2012! The Ibiza is now #11 year-to-date. Notice also the BMW 1 Series up 43% year-on-year but down 3 spots on June to #7, the Opel Corsa up 78% but also down 3 to #8, the Toyota Yaris up 123% to #11 and the BMW 3 Series up 85% to #12.

Renault Captur Portugal July 2013Portugal is the Renault Captur’s 2nd best performing country in the world after France.

The Renault Captur confirms Portugal is its #2 market in the world after France so far, up one further rank on last month to #13 at 233 units and 2.2% while the Peugeot 2008 is down 5 to #23 and the Citroen C-Elysee down 8 to #24.
