Turkish consumers bought 71,596 new vehicles in July, split into 55,712 passenger cars (up a beautiful 25% year-on-year) and 15,884 LCV, bringing the year-to-date total to 453,339 units (PC/LCV split: 347,818 up 20% and 105,521). No surprises in pole position: the Fiat Linea leads the way as has become the norm over the last 2 years with 3,065 sales and 4.3%. The Renault Symbol is up 5 spots on June to land back in 2nd place at 2,479 units and 3.5%, slightly above its year-to-date level of 3.4%. The Renault Fluence rounds up the podium both this month and year-to-date at 3.4% and 3.3% respectively.
Lots of change below! Volkswagen has an excellent showing (it is back to #1 brand in the country with an impressive 15% share this month): the Passat is up 10 ranks to #4 with 2,253 sales and 3.1% while the Golf is up 12 to #6 at 2,071 units and 2.9%. The Ford Focus sedan also does well even though it is down 2 ranks to #5. The Fiat Fiorino LCV is up 5 spots to #7 but the best performer in the Turkish Top 10 this month is delivered by the Toyota Corolla: up 21 ranks to break into the Top 10 for the first time since last December with 1,910 sales and 2.7%. This could be due to the old generation having its prices slashed to use all the stock up or the locally-produced new generation already being delivered to dealerships very successful, or both…
Amazingly, it’s in Turkey that the Mercedes CLA hits its highest ranking in the world!
Further down, the Mercedes CLA continues to amaze, up a further 10 ranks on June to #37 which is its highest ranking anywhere in the world (!), also making it the brand’s best-seller in the country. Notice also the Dacia Sandero up 5 ranks to #19, the Dacia Lodgy up 7 to #32, Seat Leon up 8 to #35, Mercedes Citan up 55 to #50, Fiat 500L up 17 to #54 and the Renault Captur surprisingly down 13 spots to #55.
