Germany Full Year 2012: Now available with model splits!

The VW Jetta only represents 1.7% of Golf sales in Germany.

One of the most frustrating things about German new car sales published monthly by KBA is that some models have their sales counted together whereas they are actually very different cars. Happily, thanks to Florian today I am able to share with you a German models ranking for the Full Year 2012 with these models split! This is extremely rare information delivered directly by the manufacturers themselves and you will only find it on BestSellingCarsBlog, so enjoy!

The Mini Countryman accounts for 25% of total Mini sales in Germany.

First the elephant in the room: the VW Golf traditionally has sales of the Golf Plus and Jetta attached to it, adding up to 7.8% share in 2012. We now know that 77% of this total is the actual Golf with 185,848 units and 6% share (-4%), while the Golf Plus sells 50,870 units (#11 and -14%) and the Jetta just 3,984 (#148 and -25%)… The VW Passat stays #2 overall even when we remove the CC sales (8,927 at #85) but without the A7, the Audi A6 is down from #13 to #15 at 48,638 sales vs. 4,072 for the A7 (#145).

The Fisker Karma sold 50 units in Germany in 2012.

Other interesting splits you will find after the jump include the BMW 5 Series/5 Series GT, Mini/Mini Countryman/Mini Paceman, Seat Leon/Altea/Toledo, Citroen C3/C3 Picasso, Citroen C4/C4 Picasso/C4 Aircross, Fiat 500/500L and Toyota Yaris/Daihatsu Charade… We now also have sales data for the Tesla Roadster (#315 with 67 sales) and Fisker Karma (#319 at 50 units).
