New car sales in Argentina are back on track big time, up a whopping 34% year-on-year in April to 81,411 registrations, which brings the year-to-date total to 332,173 units, up 6% on 2012. For only the third time ever after January 2011 and January 2013, the Peugeot 207 Compact takes the lead of the Argentinean models ranking with 3,566 sales and 4.4% share and is now #2 only 602 units below the Chevrolet Classic year-to-date. Interesting, given this is actually a facelifted 1999 Peugeot 206 also known as 206+ in most markets. In fact two veterans top the sales charts this month in Argentina: the Renault Clio Mio, a facelifted 1998 Clio, is up one spot on March to a record 2nd place at 3,246 units and 4%…
Both the Ford Ecosport (#4 this month and year-to-date) and Renault Duster (#7 in April and #5 YTD) continue to impress while the Fiat Siena is up 6 spots to #11 thanks to the ‘Grand Siena’ version. The Chevrolet Cobalt breaks into the Argentinean Top 50 for the first time, up a massive 93 ranks on March to #50, the Chery Tiggo remains 53rd and becomes the best-selling Chinese model in the country while the Chevrolet Onix lands directly at #87 with 91 units sold.
