South Africa March 2013: Toyota Hilux reclaims throne

Never since BestSellingCarsBlog was created in October 2010 had the South African been down year-on-year… This time has come, with March sales down 2% to 54,946 registrations, however the year-to-date total is still in positive at +4% and 163,092 units. Second consecutive month in pole position for the Toyota Hilux selling 3,637 units for an excellent 6.6% market share like in February. This score enables it to reclaim the year-to-date throne with 9,771 sales and 6% vs. 9,728 for the VW Polo Vivo, #2 this month at 2,939 units and 5.3%. The VW Polo is back in third place with 2,596 sales and 4.7%.
Excellent performance once again of the Ford Ranger, up one spot to a record 4th position at 1,818 units and 3.3% while the Toyota Etios is down 2 ranks to a still very respectable #5 with 1,736 sales and 3.2%. This month we welcome back Mercedes in the ranking as the German manufacturer has resumed communicating models splits. The C-Class lands at an excellent #8 with 1,415 units and 2.1%, just above the BMW 3 Series up 2 spots to #9 and 1,401 sales. Notice also the Land Rover Discovery up 13 ranks to #26, Range Rover Evoque up 10 to #31 and the Ford Kuga up to #37.
