Venezuela February 2013: DongFeng S30 now #1 year-to-date!

The Venezuelan new car market put the breaks on in February: down a painful 31% year-on-year to 8,058 registrations, which brings the year-to-date total to 13,600 units, down 24% on 2012. Leader in 2012, the Chevrolet Aveo reclaims the title of best-selling model in the country this month after a 3 month-absence from the top thanks to 777 sales and 9.6% share. The Mazda BT-50 celebrates 4 months in a row in the Top 6, climbing to an outstanding second place at 555 units and 6.9%.

But the big event this month in Venezuela is the Chinese DongFeng S30, distributed by Civetchi, managing its third consecutive month on the podium at #3 with 474 sales and 5.9%, meaning it even takes the lead in the 2013 year-to-date ranking after 2 months at 1,117 units and 8.2% share vs. 1,022 and 7.5% for the BT-50 and 966 and 7.1% for the Aveo… Other great performers this month include the Kia Rio at #7, Peugeot 207 at #9 vs. #29 in 2012, Haima 7 at #11 and Kia Sportage at #14.
