Record year for new car sales in Morocco, up 19% year-on-year to 130,000 registrations. The Renault Group now has a tight grip on the Moroccan market, holding a whopping 36.6% share, but interestingly it’s the locally produced low-cost brand Dacia that is in the lead with 20.8% share ahead of Renault at 15.8%. The Renault Kangoo is the most popular model in the country with 12,933 sales and just under 10% of the market. It is followed by no less than 3 Dacias: this way the French-Romanian manufacturer does better in Morocco than it does ‘at home’ in Romania!
The Dacia Logan ranks #2 at 11,757 units and 9%, ahead of the Duster very impressive with 7,661 sales and 5.9% and the Sandero at 5,916 units and 4.5%. The Ford Fiesta brilliantly takes the 5th place thanks to 4,184 sales and 3.2%, with the Peugeot 206 at #6 and the Hyundai i10 at #7. Notice also the Nissan Qashqai at #9, the Fiat Doblo at #10 and the Renault Clio just outside the Top 10.
