Vietnam January 2013: Toyota Camry takes off

Vietnamese new car sales start the year up a whopping 75% in January to 7,363 registrations. While the Toyota Fortuner was on an amazing run of 8 consecutive months in pole position which enabled it to take the lead of the market for the first time over the Full Year 2012, in January it’s the Toyota Camry that shoots up to #1 with 741 sales and an excellent 10.1% share thanks to the new model.
The Toyota Corolla is solid at #2 with 519 units and 7% vs. 5.7% in FY2012 while the Toyota Fortuner drops to #3 with 477 sales and 6.5%, just above the Toyota Vios at 464 units and 6.3%. The Toyota Innova at #5 makes the Top 5 100% Toyota for the 2nd month in a row and only the third time in the last 12 months. Very strong month for the Kia Forte at #6 and 4.2% vs. 2.6% in 2012, while the Kia Picanto (new generation) lodges a second month inside the Top 10 at #8 and the Honda Civic is up 7 spots to #9. Notice the ranking now includes Mazda models.
