Venezuela October 2012: State orders keep Land Cruiser high

The Venezuelan new vehicle market is up 5% year-on-year in October to 10,955 registrations, split between 8,411 locally produced models (-9%) and 2,544 imports (+117%!). Year-to-date, the total stands at 110,273 units, up 11% on 2011. The Chevrolet Aveo holds the pole position once again with 1,137 sales and 10.4% share, reinforcing its 2012 year-to-date leadership at 15,713 units and 14.2%. The Mitsubishi Lancer continues to impress, up one spot on September to #2 with 744 sales and 6.8% while the Toyota Corolla rounds up the podium at 571 units and 5.2%.
Government orders keep the Toyota Land Cruiser at a very high level, #4 again this month with 556 sales and 5.1% and now up to #10 year-to-date at 3.1% share, with the ’76’ version (pictured above) accounting for the majority of the sales. Notice also the Chevrolet NPR up 5 spots to #9, the Kia Rio robust again at #11, the Mack Granite up to #19 at 206 units and 1.9% and the Kia Pregio up 11 ranks to #23.
