Vietnam September 2012: Toyota Fortuner and Camry impress

No sign of improvement for Vietnamese new car sales in September: down 31% year-on-year to 7,018 registrations, which brings the year-to-date total to 55,928 units, down 32% on 2011. The drop deepens to -40% this month for passenger cars… The Toyota Fortuner enjoys its 5th month in a row in pole position with 521 sales and 7.4% and reinforces its 2012 year-to-date leadership at 3,947 units and 7.1%. The Toyota Corolla is #2 in both rankings, hitting 5.8% share in September and 5.5% year-to-date. The Toyota Innova is up one spot to #3 and 5.2%.
The other great performer this month is the Toyota Camry, up 2 ranks on August to #4 with 350 sales and 5% vs. 3.3% year-to-date. The Toyota Vios is down 2 to #5, making the Top 5 100% Toyota for the first time in 2012 and potentially in two years. Ford stays really strong in September with the Fiesta and Everest both at 1.6% share in 11th and 12th place respectively, vs. 1.1% year-to-date and the Escape at #18 and 1% vs. #23 and 0.6% ytd. Finally, notice the new gen Kia Picanto at #23.
