Bahrain August 2012: Toyota Prado #1, Hyundai Tucson on podium

New car sales in Bahrain slow their insane growth in August at +21% year-on-year to 4,004 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 30,612 units, up a huge 55% on 2011 and already nearly equivalent to the Full Year 2011 figure (31,212)… The models ranking is reshuffled this month with the Toyota Prado taking the lead thanks to 324 sales and an excellent 8.1% share. It is still #2 year-to-date though at 2,171 units and 7.1%. The Toyota Land Cruiser is down one spot to #2 with 249 sales and 6.2% but keeps the YTD pole position by far at 2,742 units and 9%. Exceptional performance of the Hyundai Tucson climbing onto the Bahraini podium with 195 sales and 4.9%. It is now #5 year-to-date at 954 units and 3.1% vs. #9 in 2011.

Lexus ES

The Toyota Hilux is down to #4 with 3.5% share vs. 4.9% year-to-date, and is followed by the Toyota Corolla at 3.4% (vs. 4.2%) and the Toyota Camry at 3.3% (vs. 3.1%). Nissan is on a roll in Bahrain: the Sunny is #7, the Tiida is up 15 spots to #9 and the Altima up 2 to #10. Other great performers this month include the GMC Yukon up 14 ranks to #13, the Lexus ES up a massive 48 spots to #13, the Ford Expedition up 4 to #19, the Mitsubishi Galant up 10 to #22, the Chevrolet Malibu up 20 to #41, the Ford Mustang up to #46, the Ford Explorer up 8 to #48 and the Nissan Micra at #50 vs. #87 year-to-date.
