Egypt July 2012: Renault Logan in great shape

The Egyptian new car market is down 5% year-on-year in July to 16,802 registrations, but the year-to-date total is still up 11% on 2011 to 105,577 units. After being passed by the Chevrolet TFR in June, the Hyundai Verna reclaims its traditional top spot in July with 2,167 sales and no less than 12.9% market share, bringing its year-to-date total to 12,007 units and 11.4% vs. 10,230 and 9.7% for the TFR (aka Isuzu D-Max). The Chevrolet Lanos is up 2 spots on May and June to round up the podium with 1,074 sales and 6.4%.

Below the Chevrolet Aveo also up 2 ranks to #4 and the Hyundai new Elantra down 2 to #5, the Renault Logan delivers another outstanding month: after ranking at an exceptional 4th place with 718 units and 5.3% in June it is #6 at 639 sales and 3.8% in July and now up to #8 and 2.8% year-to0-date. Notice also the Mitsubishi Lancer up to #7 with 611 units and 3.6%.

Other great performers this month in Egypt include the Jinbei Haise landing back at #18, the Toyota Fortuner stable at #21 for its third month in the country, the Mitsubishi Lancer EX up to #28 vs. #64 year-to-date, the VW Crafter up to #30 vs. #68, the BMW 3 Series up to #31 vs. #52, the BMW X3 up to #33, the BMW 5 Series up to #36 vs. #58 and the Hyundai Accent Hatchback up to #50 with 46 sales.
