Saudi Arabia March 2012: Toyota Hilux close to 12% market share

The Saudi car market is up 7% year-on-year in March at 57,569 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 164,209 units, up 10% on 2011. With supply issues now resolved, the Toyota Hilux reaches heights no model had approached in at least 18 months, up to a massive 11.6% market share thanks to 6,695 sales and dominates the 2012 year-to-date ranking head and shoulders at 15,108 units and 9.2%.

The Toyota Corolla is up one spot to #2 with 3,612 sales and 6.3% ahead of the Hyundai Accent, taking a breather after record figures in February with 3,388 units and 5.9%, and the Hyundai Elantra, getting stronger at 4.9% and 2,846 sales. Very solid month for the Toyota Land Cruiser, up 5 spots to #7 at 1,881 units and 3.3%, and its Pick-up variant, up 16 ranks to #15 with 1,125 sales and 2%.

Ford Flex

Other great performers this month in Saudi Arabia include the Mitsubishi L200 up 24 spots to #26, the Kia Optima up 6 to #27, the Hyundai Santa Fe up 23 to #32, the Ford Flex staying in the Top 50 at #48 vs. #89 in 2011, the Hyundai Genesis up 24 to #49 and the Kia Frontier up 37 to #50. Further down, notice the Lexus GS landing directly at #73, the Range Rover up 80 spots to #77 and the GMC Terrain up 106 to #84.
