Oman February 2012: Toyota Hilux above 12% market share

The Omani car market is up 17% in February to 15,635 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 28,927 units, up 8% in 2011. While over the Full Year 2011, the Toyota Hilux lost its crown at the last minute to the Land Cruiser due to Thailand supply issues, this year the Hilux is not wasting time, commanding 12.3% of the market in February thanks to 1,926 sales and 3,419 and 11.8% year-to-date. The Land Cruiser is #2 at 9.8% but #3 year-to-date at 8.8% behind the Land Cruiser Pick-up at 9.2%.
Like in 2011 and January the Toyota Prado ranks 4th and is ahead of the Nissan Sunny and D22 in February. And like in 2011, there are 7 Toyotas in the 2012 year-to-date Top 7: the Hiace is #5 followed by the Camry and the Corolla. The other great performer in the Top 10 is the Hyundai Tucson, up 12 spots on January to #9 with 413 sales and 2.6% vs.#30 in 2011.
Further down, notice the Nissan Patrol up 10 ranks to #15, the Hyundai Azera up to #22 with 195 sales and 1.2% vs. 60 units over the Full Year 2011, the Ford Taurus up to #44 vs.#81 in 2011, the Nissan Qashqai up to #50 vs.#101 and the Infiniti QX up to #65 vs.#114.
